Re: 1990 ZR-1 #2456 Original Components
GREAT pictures!!!
INTERESTING!!! Puzzled about the top. The masking tape was done at the factory, and should match the last numbers of VIN. They should be stamped on the roof frame as well. If the stamped number equals the VIN that would be good, but still would not explain the 470 on the tape. Switched / mismatched at dealer perhaps?? Thanks for sharing the pictures with the progress!! Re: 1990 ZR-1 #2456 Original Components
I've searched for the VIN on the plexi top. Obviously not looking in the proper area.
I have another 90 with two tops (44 miles) and I found the VIN. The other 90 has different markings, if I remember correctly. I'll wonder down stairs and get a shot of it, later. I tried to make sense of the # on the tape but am just going to leave well enough alone. Several pieces of old masking tape in the car. I'm trying not to disturb what's there. |

(End Quote) Marty, The glass top for my '90 has that piece of masking tape on it also. Written on the tape is "987". The number of my car is "0442" and the "0442" is also stamped in the frame of the glass top in the proper place. I've often wondered why the masking tape was there and why is was marked as it is. If either of you have the build sheet, perhaps it is the sequence number of the build.
Later cars seem to match. Perhaps 90 was different? Will refer to a C-4 NCRS Judge to see if they have any insight. I too enjoy ZR-1 history mystery. Great to see the AC Spark Plug markings. Appreciate the pictures! Very good progress! Marty |

I have the build sheet for my other low mile ZR-1 but, dagnabbit, now I'm gonna have to remove the bronze top to see the tape #😜
Always something. Tomorrow, I'll get that done 👍 |
