Re: ZR-1 spyder Restore to original?
I am with Bob; it's unimaginable that the Spyder wouldn't get restored - let the pictures tell the story of the sinkhole. Heart wrenching to see this much devastation. The LT5 looks like a work of art even with all those spoils on it!

Re: ZR-1 spyder Restore to original?
There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of black/red cars in the world. And there are probably several hundred black/red ZR-1s. But I'd bet good money there aren't any silver/yellow cars of ANY kind. That original color scheme is incredible and is what a 1-of-1 car should be.
It should be silver/yellow in its original livery. Not even close.

Maybe they can lose those wheels and put something decent on it. Those wheels are looking incredible dated. NOt that they were earth shattering good looking when they came out. AN opportunity to improve the car. Just my opinion.

Re: ZR-1 spyder Restore to original?
I think there are things that they could do different to both color schemes that would make it hotter. The question is, would making changes, even just in color be sacrilege to the originals or a faux pas?
For example: with the silver and yellow, the idea may be good of only silver and yellow, but with the execution, I think that silver on all the interior switches, bezels, somehow cheapens the look. Yellow on certain pieces does the same. The black and red doesn't stand out like it could either. While I like the Spyder, I think Callaway's Speedsters have truly stood the test of time as awesome looking cars. Beautiful, tasteful, rich looking. If there wasn't such a thing as these Callaway cars and GM had only made one wild looking LT5 powered Speedster such as one of the ten Speedsters, or even the one LT5 LM dark red Speedster with top that recently went up for auction on the Mecum block, it would be so much easier to say "restore that car at all costs". I don't know, we will see. |
