This is a C5 knob I had re-done by Redline. Button is the same. I had the wrong button inserted at the time of the pic. A view of some additional interior pieces. ![]()

Go to www.redlinegoods.com. They have an example of a red/black knob they did using a C5 knob. They show mine as well.

Will the insert fit a C5 knob I don't know - is the height of the C5 knob comparable to the C4? I don't know that either but I'd make sure before I did a buy. It doesn't take much difference in height to feel the difference. Shorter might be good. The other thing I guess to check would be the lift-ring functionality. I'm assuming your car has the stock shifter. If it doesn't then maybe it's not an issue. |

Here's pics of a C5 knob re-done by Redline v stock C4 knob. Should answer your questions. The Redline re-cover adds some added heft to the knob, which I like. The C4 knob is black, obviously. ![]() ![]() Shift button obviously fits. Like I said. They're identical. ![]()

So it makes the "core" shopping easy - if you like the stitching pattern of the C5 then you use the C5 core so the trimmer can match the stitching or if you prefer the C4 stitching you provide the trimmer with a C4 core. Easy enough.

Do the aftermarket shifters (Hurst,B&M,etc) use the same 9/16-18 thread as the stock shifter?

This creates a separate issue in that the shift pattern if it's a "patterned knob" is likely not indexed properly. This can be accomplished by stacking washers on the shift lever to effectively change the index of the knob. Mine when secured with no washers is indexed perfectly. Don't use the jam nut unless you actually want to use it to lock it more securely. Mine is secure with no additional help needed. Lift ring works perfectly - no interference. The Hurst shifter uses the exact same thread and locking mechanism as the stock shifter. Not familiar w B&M.
