Re: Chicago Bound
Well that's too bad, I shall be headed that general direction myself, probably going to stick to I90 most of the way.

Re: Chicago Bound
Playing with MapQuest.... what is the best way to get to Sioux Falls from Addison? Are the toll roads worth it or should I avoid them?

Sioux Falls Total Miles and Hours...... 561 mi, 8 hours 15 mins In current traffic: 8 hours 15 mins I-90 W Once at Sioux Falls...stay on I-90 west....all the way to Rapid City. Stop at Wall Drug on the way. I think speed limit is 75 mph all the way with light traffic. Once near Rapid City....take exit 57 to Highway 16 off to left and get a picture of that Z with Mount Rushmore in background It is only a few miles to Mount Rushmore off of I-90. The most direct route by car is via Interstate - 90, exiting on exit 57 to Highway 16 (also called mount Rushmore Road) which goes directly Keystone. From Keystone take Highway 244 to the Mount Rushmore Memorial entrance. From Rapid City, go southwest on Highway 16 for 23 miles. You can get free state highway maps from the South Dakota Department of Tourism by calling (605) 773-3301 or (800) 732-5682

Re: Chicago Bound
Well that depends on what you are looking to do. If you want to get somewhere fast, take the toll road. Rt. 20 OTOH will take you to Rockford but more picturesque and twisty.

Re: Chicago Bound
Keep in mind the Sturgis Bikers will be out in full swing Aug 5th - August 11th with many returning on I-90 (east and west) around August 11th.
http://www.blackhillsbadlands.com/ho...torcycle-rally http://www.sturgis.com/ Sturgis is just a few miles North on I-90 from Rapid City (top of map). Last edited by Dynomite; 08-03-2013 at 07:20 PM. |
