Re: MEET THE "ZR-1 KING OF QUICK & FAST" MR. LANE GOLDSTEIN
Wow.....now I finally can put the name FASTLANE with a person. Thanks Bryan and Scott! I used to see that 'handle' a lot when I was doing research over at CF.com back in 03 and 04 before I bought my 90.
The picture of that intake set up with the different I/H's and the injectors on the out side struck a cord with me. This past Gathering, or was it '11, I met a gentleman with a ZR-1 that had the same set up. Bill Krichoffer (sp? I proly butchered his last name, sorry! ) told me he got to thinking about our intake set up and he found a better way. I know I have pictures of his set up, I will look for them. Anyway, thanks Bryan and Scott, for the history lesson. Tom Here's the picture I was talking about. It was the '12 Gathering.

I can't remember the displacement but the compression was in the
high teens and he did not use the stock ECM.

Re: MEET THE "ZR-1 KING OF QUICK & FAST" MR. LANE GOLDSTEIN
Here on the net I saw an in-car-video of Fastlane
making a pass at Beech Bend at a BG GTG. AMAZING how fast he runs through the gears, and the sound is unbelievable. Someone have it? |

Re: MEET THE "ZR-1 KING OF QUICK & FAST" MR. LANE GOLDSTEIN
I believe the engine was a 368 in the pictures where the plenum was looking like a regular LT5 plenum and the sheet metal intake engine was a 431
Ted, is this the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHuhnXVsyG0 ?

Saw the vid a few weeks ago.
And the owner / driver comment: Quote:
So how DO you get 8 1/2 and 160, without any of the above??? Methanol? JATO pod? Critical Mass fission reaction doesn't go from 1Krpm -> 8Krpm like that one in the vid. Sumpin' don't jibe here... |

Geez! WHat kind of rear end is in that car? Solid axle or IRS? If he's got IRS, he must have huge spindles.

Not to quibble about it, but I've often wondered why Lane would make such a big point about, "no nitrous", "no automatic", and "no supercharger", when behind that LT-5 there is nothing made by Chevrolet in that drivetrain. Regardless it's a cool car, and he's a cool guy. BTW, that's my video of the inside of the car at speed. The only existing inside shot of the car in action, that I know of. It was at Bowling Green, in the late nineties I think. The end of the day, and no one left to run against Lane, but me. So I rolled the camera in his car, and jumped into mine to line up against the monster. Somewhere there is an outside shot, from the stands, of that run. With a white 91' in the background as he leaves. As Letterman used to say, "A brush with greatness".

I like the idea of no steroids or other artificial power. Straight displacement and compression.
