Re: Engine Dyno info from Mercruiser
This is about as close as anyone will ever get to seeing actual Dyno numbers during the "development" of the LT5. This data is from Jan 88. This booklet was prepared for all meeting attendees for the "go ahead" to produce the production model of the LT5. This meeting was held at Lotus, in the UK, between GM and Lotus engineers.
This is the Holy Grail for us.

Re: Engine Dyno info from Mercruiser
This is an actual LT5 Engine Build Booklet. This documents the entire build of the engine and is all hand written by the assembly technician. LT5 Engine 046. Look at the engine closely. There are several characteristics that differ from typical production LT5 motors.

Re: Engine Dyno info from Mercruiser
I think we should collectively make another push. Especially considering that the old GM no longer even exists.

Re: Engine Dyno info from Mercruiser
Attached is what's in the NCRS archives for LT5 dyno sheets (also LT1). Many thanks to Bill Sangrey, the NCRS Archives Manager! OBTW, earlier this year Bill spoke with the NCM big wigs @ the NCRS Winter Regional in Florida and tried to "spring" the dyno sheets from the vaults of the NCM Library for us, unfortunately he wasn't successful If they won't give them to NCRS, they ain't giving them to anyone... It's easier to get "secrets" out of the Vatican...
The attached "Interim Test Report" from GM Powertrain, done @ Lotus in Hethul England is the results of the dyno runs they apparently used when determining the advertised horsepower for the 1993 LT5. The LT5 stuff is several pages into the attachment after the LT1 stuff. Note: the LT5 put out 445.3 hp @ 6600 rpm!!! (pretty stout!!! I'm sure this is "at the crank" horsepower and who knows if any or all accesorries were installed?) My computer skills could use some work so I hope the attachments "work". I've never tried to attach a pdf file to a Forum post. If I screwed it up, I'm open to suggestions. Doug aka: Mystic ZR-1 |
