Re: Transmission problem:Please help!
With the clutch pedal out and the engine not running, can any gear be selected?
If so, the problem is not in the transmission. My guess is the clutch master cylinder is out of fluid. Unbolt the ECM - 2 10 mm nuts - and swing it away. Add DOT 3 brake fluid.

Re: Transmission problem:Please help!
Thanks to all.
At first I thank for kind correspondence and answer and advice with the quickness from all of you heartily. Thank you so much. Hi,Mr.GOLDCYLON. Thank you for your advice. There was not a report about the poor operation of the clutch from him, but I'll say to him to examine oil leak from Master Cylider and Slave cylinder. Hi,Mr.tuband. Thank you for your advice. I have been ever hit by the trouble by the oil leak from Master cylinder and Slave cylinder, too. I and the friend often feel uneasy in the durability of these parts. I was not troubled by an oil leak from Master cylinder after having changed it for Master cylinder made in Mclead company. Hi,Mr.FU2. Thank you for information about ZR51 Performance and advice. I share this information with a friend at once; of future measures intend to refer to it. Hi,Mr.a1991zr1. Thank you for advice. It's important to the check of the dirt of the oil. Checks about it become usually often negligent by all means. I am careful about it, too. Hi,Mr.batchman Thank you for advice. Because I have not been hit by the trouble for the solenoid, I do not know whether this real is the cause of a solenoid either. I and the friend intend to practice the advice that all of you gave to me. Hi,Mr.scottfab. Thank you for many advice&information. It is trouble of 1-2 synchro in the gearbox inside that I am afraid most so that you right say. I have ever heard this gearbox though I was firm when broken when repair was very hard. I think that the synchro of the mission of the friend's ZR should not fail. The cyclone came over to the area where I lived in. It was very terrible wind and rain, but I did not have the damage serious directly. Fortunately, My another vette '89 I used it when I went to the workplace did not suffer damage for wind and rain and finished it. Thank you for worrying. |

Hi,Mr.gbrtng.
Thank you for advice. With the clutch pedal out and the engine not running, He says that can 3,4,5,6,R gear be selected. But the shifter can't fall down to 1,2.and he can't selected 1,2 gear. The clutch fluid leak is not found, and the clutch work normaly. |

Thank goodness the cyclone was not worse. Weather is getting more difficult everywhere and I think we are all becoming more sensitive to it. It sounds like the shifter won't move over to the 1-2 gate. That says to me the solenoid may be stuck in the "4" position (perhaps it got bent by force?), as that is how it causes the skip shift from 1-4. I have not the time to look for the view on how it mounts etc but that should be common to any any 6 speed manual Corvette up to 1996. Best of luck, - Jeff
