Hey Brett, I just thought of this. Which spark plugs did your motor use, FR2LS?
If so and you need a set I still have the ones I took out of my car. They only have 7400 miles on them and they do work. I can bring them to BG if you want them? I would donate them to the cause gratis. Tom

Thanks, Jerry! I really appreciated the phone call and the parts.

Could you not put the regular chains in it just to be safe? It would be a shame to have the simplex chain fail in it for some odd reason. What was wrong with the simplex chains anyway? I guess I will go get my copy of HOB and find out.

There is no substitute for the simplex chains that were used, unfortunately. As long as the engine is not run to peak RPM's, it should be fine. Fingers crossed.

With the state of current technology and metalergy the simplex chains that Geoff used on our engines are stronger than the duplex chains used in the day. The original simplex chains broke at high RPMs.

I guess these older chains must have been why other manufactures went with belts, like the Ferarri Testarossa etc. Problem with those is you have to keep changing them out. I am glad GM developed chains that last!

This is what the engine looked like in 1998.
