Re: Blasted Dymags...
One of those......an expoxy primer will work too, but if you are clearing, then obviously primer is not needed.
Or keep it as is and use the Gibbs

Re: Blasted Dymags...
Your wheels turned out great! Magnesium will polish and look fantastic, however they start to oxidize very quickly. Plan on polishing every 1-2 weeks to keep them looking good if you are driving much. Ask me how I know!

Re: Blasted Dymags...
Lee, the plan was to drop them off sat to get finished. But Ive been snowed inat work and have to make a emergency trip out of town. How long before damage starts happening. From my research a couple weeks ?

Re: Blasted Dymags...
Ken they really do not get damaged.....look at all of the 50s/60s Gasser wheels that are still around, Magnesium is used bare on engine/transmission parts.....Oxidation will form, but that really is not a big deal. Not prepping them means that the paint will not stick, people overract to magnesium wheels. MAgnesium is just not as flexible as alum and will snap or crank vs bend
You are fine..

Re: Blasted Dymags...
Dropped the wheels off today. Decided on a satin clear powercoat . If i was rich I would have gone with the polish and clear PC , but Im really happy with the raw casting look. They should be done in about 10 days.

Re: Blasted Dymags...
When you say outgas them is this where someone was talking about heating them up before, I'm going to paint mine with clearcoat. If it is then how hot do you need to do it and for how long? I found a place to soda blast mine for $125 for the set and it close by. Thanks!
