Re: Where to find a Torque Honing Plate
Yun put together this fine drawing based on a sketch I drew up from the block deck drawing Jerry provided and measuring a head gasket.
Can someone who has made one of these before look it over and let me know if I have missed anything? Thanks, Phil |

Re: Where to find a Torque Honing Plate
Fine tuning the honing plate design and need some help.
Can someone experienced tell me how much larger the honing plate bore diameter should be compared to the cylinder diameter being honed? Right now I have honing plate bore at 4.150" and liners will be sized for 4.000" pistons. I got the 4.150" dimension from measuring a head gasket which I presume is sized to fit over the ridge on top of the standard OEM liner. |

Re: Where to find a Torque Honing Plate
Here is the finished torque honing plate Secondchance drew up and arranged for a friend of his to turn it out on a CNC machine. The machine work turned out excellent.
Thanks a million for helping out with this. A great addition to the WAZOO ZR-1 tool crib. |

Re: Where to find a Torque Honing Plate
Wow, that looks nice.
Hey Phil, just bolt that between the block and your heads and you will have a big cube motor the easy way. Of course the compression will be a little on the low side, but maybe you can get high dome pistons, Jim |

Re: Where to find a Torque Honing Plate
That stuff is car porn! It's schweeeeet Phil! I have a Q.......is there a range of bore sizes that one plate will cover for an LT5? What I mean to ask can you have one plate to hone a standard liner, and then how far can you go bigger before you need to make another plate? Sorry, does this Q make sense?

Re: Where to find a Torque Honing Plate
The diameter of the torque honing plate bore are larger than the cylinder bore.
This plate is 104.0 mm and will work on stock 99.0 mm diameter liners up to 103.5 mm (4.075") bore liners. 104 mm is just the right size to fit over the outside of the raised lip found on top of the stock and 101.6 mm (4.00") LA Sleeve type aftermarket liners. However, I plan to use it in conjunction with an OEM head gasket in place when honing the liners. |

back in the old day's you could just hand over your 350 sbc to the machine shop with a list and come & get it when it was finished...
