Default Plenum tools

About ready to pull plenum, what is being used for the torx in those tight areas? Seems like a deep / long head is nec. Also any favorites for scanners from your experience? OBD 1 & 2 needed?
Thanks for any input,
Gene

Gene, I'm not too far from you (Micanopy FL), if you want, I can lend you the long bit I have to un-do the torx bolts in the plenum. I think it's a T35 torx, I bought a Snap-On brand one for around $20 so it might not be worth the gas to drive to pick it up

The system is OBD I.

the top tool has the same torx shaft and will work in a pinch

I've had a hard time finding the long shaft torx tools

any place other than snap on? good tools but a bit pricey

I just used a short Torx bit from an "all in one" had driver set which came with an adapter that makes it compatible with my 1/4 drive tools (I used a long 1/4 inch extension on between the runners)

AutoXray 600 provides full live data for OBD 1 and 2, Innova 3120 does not. Anyone wanna buy an Innova 3120 :-)

I bought my long shank torx set from Autozone. Got the job done! Also buy a wooden handle for a hammer to hold up the plenum while you disconnect the ignition module wires and front vac line.

Matco Tools has a long bit. I think it cost me about $17.00

Hammer handle is a great idea. Worked good for me.

Thanks guys for the info !! The scanner is an item I have been considering for awhile for other cars also, so a popular & reliable unit will be helpful ? Can I get real codes with the paperclip method? I have service manual 1 & 2 for the '95 do I need anything else to cover?

Thanks again,
Gene

I bought a AutoXray scanner when I bought my 94. It came with the ''OBD I'' cable so I had to order a separate OBD II cable to fit the ALDL. Works fine, ''real time'' codes, snap shot in time sensors readings, yada yada......and the price was right.
I'm sure others will chime in as there are a lot of choices out there.
