Dave,
You wil not be able to ship that USPS, that door panel has a combined girth of over 109" length + girth probably close to 120" Hence, the cost to ship of $400.00 is about right, it will be priced on DIM rather than weight. I shipped via FedEx a roof panel to AU. last week, cost over $650.00. |

Dave,
I'm not in California but I'd be happy to receive the panel for you and hold it or store it until you get the shipping method worked out. Unfortunately I'm on the east coast (Maryland). Let me know if I can help. Scott |

There are plenty of CA members here, so one will be along in no time. Hopefully you will find a more reasonable shipping method.

Dave:
I'm within a couple of hundred miles of San Jose, ground shipping to me wouldn't cost that much. I've had dealings with freight forwarders in the past for overseas shipments. These are the people who put together shipments of items via ocean freighter. Your box goes into a shipping container along with gosh knows what else. When the container gets to a port near you, the freight forwarder calls you and arranges a pickup. It's a lot cheaper than air delivery, but can take as long as a month (or two). If you're not in a hurry, this might be the best way to go. Packaging will be important, you will want it packed as best you can to minimize damage while aboard the ship. I'll go dig up the names of the Freight Forwarders that I've dealt with in the past if you're interested. TomC "Crabs" Folsom CA

Re: UK member needs a favor from a member in/near San Jose CA
I'd try to find an acquaintance/Air-Line employee (Pilot,Flight Attendant, Crew member) to move it for me. If it's going to Scott in MD, he's very close Baltimore(BWI) or Washington Dulles (IAD) and there are several International flights that originate from both. If you can find someone traveling have them move it as checked baggage.
I know a few Pilots/Crew who do this quite frequently for "themselves" and "others"! None though that are from UK. |

Next time you need something shipped cheap. Have it shipped to Keith Beschi's New York address. It will come over in his next shipment. I then normally collect from him (stevenage or his yard in Potters Bar). You wont beat Keith's shipping/duty price anywhere m8
