Was working on installing a set of headers and came across a not so small issue.
Be warned the pictures are large. http://www.pnwzr1.com/images/SSW_Headers/IMG_1253.jpg http://www.pnwzr1.com/images/SSW_Headers/IMG_1254.jpg http://www.pnwzr1.com/images/SSW_Headers/IMG_1255.jpg Shot 1253 shows the interference with the steering rack and also the gap at the end with the flange and the cylinder head end. Shot 1254 shows the center stud and that the header can not move any further back from that point, and also the amount of bolts I was able to get on to help center the header. Shot 1255 shows the driver side rear bolt holes and how the line up with the cylinder head. Currently the headers are on there way back to SSW. They agree there is a issue, and need to figure out why as the flanges are cut on a CNC machine and the headers are assembled on a jig. |

Interesting! I just got done cutting down the top of of my motor mount on the drivers side! I noticed while wrenching my motor mount bolts back down that the mount heat cover had got a little crispy. Removed it and noticed the header resting on the top corner of the mount.....I tried to adjust it, but was not enough so I had to remove the mount and file it down to get only about an 1/8" of clearance......wierd!

Two years ago mine fit good except 1/16" clearance to steering shaft and touches on right turns, which is kinda irritating since it can be felt, close but not touching engine mount insulation.

Jeff,
I just got this set from SSW on 3/28 ordered them the first of Feb. took about a month as they had to make them and send them out for coating. Got around to putting them on 2 weeks ago. Everything went normal as far as header installs go. The fit was good all the bolt holes lined up very nice. The fit near the steering shaft was close but still had about 3/8 inch of clearance. As far as the left motor mount they do touch the insulation but nothing more. On the right side the only close spot is the frame rail with about a 1/16 inch clearance. Looks like someone did not get the jig set up right on the set you are working with. |

but could use the stock oil dip stick tube and oxygen sensors. That was not the case for Jerry who had some issues with his Jeals. Sounds like its just the luck of the draw....... |
