Ran across this while looking for something else. Zip Corvettes acquired by Legendary companies that also owns Paragon Corvette and Corvette Central brands among many others. Seems to be a consolidation firm. I have nothing negative to say about them, don't know anything about them prior to this but, in my experience, large companies buying out smaller companies, especially multiple smaller companies in the same market, is not a good thing for consumers. Again, just my opinion. Hope I am wrong.

Monopolies are not a good thing for diversity and competition. Just look at Comcast when it comes to internet.

I think the OP states that Zip was purchased by an aggregator that also owns Corvette Central and Paragon. Ur seeing consolidation in this market which is inevitable.

Not sure if I am reading your post correctly but this company that bought Zip Corvette parts owns the other two places you mentioned.

Acknowledging ZIp and CC are owned by the same parent, I wouldn?t characterize any of the three as having a monopoly. So - respectfully, not sure what that talk is about.

Those are three of the largest providers of Corvette parts combined under a single corporate structure. Depending on the market share, it very well could represent monopolistic competition or at the least an oligopoly along w Ecklers and MidAmerica.

Word is, MidAmerica was recently sold as well. One of the major online parts companies if I remember right.
I've been attempting to buy every missing part I need to get my 67' small block car back on the road while getting all the original parts for my 70 Lt-1 restored/rebuilt while I still can. I've seen too many corporate buy outs in the past few years from breweries ( Oskar Blues here in Colorado) to car care products ( Adams) and the product quality suffers as a result. |
