Default How long should a brake light switch last?

It seems like every 12-18 months I'm either cleaning the contacts or rereplacing the brake light switch. And with the Euro taillight set up my main brake light circuit now runs through the third brake light contact which means when the third brake light contact goes out I got no brake lights. This is getting old.

I don't know that you can reasonably "predict" life of or required replacement of these components. I'd think that a "self cleaned/reconditioned" switch is certainly likely to require more attention than maybe a replacement of OE comparable product.

You accessed the LT BLU from where for your stop lights? I can't imagine that having any thing to do with the probable life but thought I'd just ask. You "snipped" and terminated the WHT?

Yes, I didn't cut the wire I removed it from the connector and isolated it and picked up power from the blue wire. My point in my post is the 3rd brake light is always going out in these cars, and since the power for the Euro taillights comes from this circuit in the switch once the circuit stops working in the switch there are no brake lights.
