Default FX3 SRC

Question?
If I set my SRC switch to performance setting,then turn off car, pull SRC
cable from the module. what setting would the shocks be in when car
is restarted? Reason for question is i may put QA1's in front for drag racing.

John, I don't know for sure, but here are my thoughts.

The FX3 system is dynamic, and adjusts itself based on a few variables. So, it might, or might not, be where you want it when the car is stopped, not moving.

Perhaps a better method (although a pain) would be to remove the electronic top off the shock, turn the adjustment all the way to one end, and hope that is the setting you want (full soft or full hard). If it isn't, try the other direction.

If you're a drag racer.
Set the SRC selector for performance. Then, remove the actuators from the front shocks and manually open the bypass valves fully. Finally, disconnect one side of your front stabilizer bar.

The only "variable" for SRC is vehicle speed. The faster the car is going, the stiffer the damping becomes, but there are no other variables.

When the car is not moving, in the performance range, the damping is still fairly aggressive.

The problem with manually adjusting the rear shocks is that it's impossible with the wheels on the car and the shocks in place. While you can easily adjust the front shocks manually, to do that with the rears, you have to jack up the car, remove the tires, remove the shocks, remove the actuators, make the adjustment then reinstall the shocks with the actuators not installed. After your done drag racing you have to remove the shocks again to replace the actuators.

I don't know if it is still available, I couldn't find it on lengenfelter website, but calling might work. They may still have the fx3 controller with different chips, I think one was drag race. I bought mine about 4 years ago.

codes for the front shocks? And will the rear shocks still be in
performance ?
OR
Set SRC in performance mode ,shut car off, then pull controller
plug (no power to unit ). Remove actuators from front shocks and
manually open bypass values fully. Then restart car, will that keep
the front shocks in tour mode and rear shocks in performance mode
without throwing codes?

My car is set for drag racing and street use, front sway has been
removed . avg 60 ft times range 1.74 to 1.78 , et 1/4 11.78 to 11.88
@ 117-to 119 mph in Fl. hot weather.

ibszr exotic muscle ( emracingcorp.com ) shows FX controller
for drag racing on there web site. Have not called them .

Ya know...it's been a long time since I thought about DIY SRC "hacks" for drag racing.

Yes, I'd put the system in performance then pull the SRC fuse or disconnect the power. Then, manually open the bypass valves in the front shocks. Now, keep in mind that, even though the mode selector is in PERF, since the car was not moving when you made the selection, the rear valving, while set for the most aggressive damping for which the system is programmed with O VSS, the bypasses in the rear shocks will not be fully closed.

Bilstein did offer a "Motorsports Controller" for SRC which accepted removable calibration chips and one of the chips Bilstein had available was for drag racing. At this point in time, I cannot remember what level of damping the drag race chip commanded to the shocks, but one can assume it was very stiff in the rear and very soft in front.

What Exotic Muscle may be selling is that Motorsports controller. You might ask him if he has a "chip" with a factory SRC cal in it, too because you'll need that for street driving.

The paperwork that came with my controller for the drag chip.. shows in tour, it would be like stock tour. In performance, it would have full loose on the front up to 25 mph, then goes to full stiff, rear is full stiff from 0 mph up. Sport is full stiff all the time front and rear.

Thanks for the information on DIY SRC set up, i'll try that when and if it stops
raining here in central FL.

I have not called exotic muscle at this time. It looks like i would have
to buy both FX3 controller and drag race chip. I'll call them next week, for
now i'll try the DIY SRC trick first.
