Default 1991 ZR1 in VA

I have been lurking and learning from the forum for some time so am ready to buy...want to see how that Permagrin feels. (BTW, user name is based on my Kawasaki sport tourer not car perfection )

Anyone know anything about the 91 ZR1 for sale at Toyota dealer in Fredricksburg? Pictures appear to be from end of summer so car has been there a while. CarFax and AutoCheck are clean and asking price seems fair. I live in TN so trying to gather as much info as possible before investing in trip to see it.

Any info or advice is greatly appreciated.

Can you give us a link to the dealer's ad or more info about the car?

Jim,

Thanks for the reply. Here is the Autotrader link:

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...56845178&Log=0

Talked with the dealer and appears they bought the car at auction in July 2013. Reports show it is a two owner but dealer has no history or paperwork.

Thanks again,
Keith

The only information I have is that the car was for sale on eBay in May, 2013 with 25,000 miles on it. The seller was a dealer in Florida.

Good luck with your search for a ZR-1.

Sorry I am not close enough to take a look, but it looks like the car has been reasonably well cared for. I see it has an aftermarket exhaust and keyless entry system added. The exhaust upgrade should be a good thing, especially if they added good headers like Stainless Works. The entry/alarm system can be a good upgrade as well, but I'd look for paperwork on who did it; there have been pictures on the Registry of butchered wiring harnesses that introduce electrical demons that are difficult and expensive to exercise. Done correctly though, it's a nice upgrade.

Good luck with the search. Don't forget to check out the ZR-1 Marketplace on the Registry too.

To bad they don't have any pics of the LT5. I would ask for some, Its always good to see what the condition is under the hood. Can say alot about how well it was taken care of.

I went with a friend this summer to look at the car. My friend drove an hour to get to my house and then we drove another hour and a half to the dealership. Made the appointment for noon to test drive the car. Got there on time and was notified that they were just about to call me, cant test drive the car as it has a leak....... The oil cooler lines were out and the battery was dead. They hooked up the battery and I started it. Sounded good but a couple of things bothered me.
The weather stripping was new but did not fit right. The windows were pulling against it when going up or down.
There was a 4" crack in the hood. The firewall had rust where something was mounted, might have been the aftermarket alarm. At that time, they had the car priced at $23,900. It has been there for a long time. I would ask if the crack has been repaired. Could not tell the condition of the paint as it was covered in dust. They were supposed to have it washed so we could tell the paint condition and then take the test ride but we got nothing, not even a sorry about that.
It should be a nice sunny weekend. Hope that helps.

Thanks everyone...I appeciate the quick responses. This car is creating more questions than providing answers at this point so I am going to wait until back in that area in January on business.

Don't let the OC lines or battery scare you....be glad those are tackled already. The weatherstrip would be the biggest concern if you ask me.

I've yet to see ANY aftermarket weatherstrip on a C4 that would par my standards.

That seems like a fair asking price on the car and it looks to be in awesome shape.

Take a trip and check the car out.

Just keep in mind if you want a driver be prepared to spend 2-3k, injectors, coils, fluids, tires.

Someone told me when I bought the first ZR-1 dial up your budget because if you don't the little things will cost you.

To add to what Steve said above, engine pics are needed. The finish on these motors can kill the look of a ZR-1 in a quick hurry in my eyes

Sure it does, You just have to be resourceful.

That is a double D exhaust if no one caught it. I looked through all of my receipts. When the Double D exhaust was available from Callaway it was $1290.00
