I was able to download the cal from the Marc Randolph chip currently in my 92 Z. The ECM is service #16163993. The Mask ID in that bin is set as $AA. When I look at the stock AYWT bin, the MASK ID is $D0. I'm assuming since the 3993 was used for multiple years that it can handle mutiple masks. So I should be able to replace or transfer this bin over to a $D0 mask if I wanted to. Correct? What year is the $AA mask for? When I look for ZR def files on TP or Moates, I find an $AFA mask. Are these two the same? When I do a compare, it appears they are.

$AA is used in Mask ID to disable the factory checksum. This is done so as not to have to re-calculate the checksum each time a change is made to the calibration.
Nowadays, programs like TP and TC will recalculate the checksum automatically when a change is made. Prior to the self-tuning days, it was cumbersome to do it, so the factory wrote a checksum bypass into the program when AA is used as mask ID.

Thanks for that explanation. If I undersdtand correctly then, I should be able to just change that value to the $D0 mask ID as long as I re-calc the checksum. As you said, that's a no-brainer with TP or TC.
