My vote was for Marino. I think that he was able to do more with what he had around him. Young, still an absolute great QB, had more talented players around him while he was in SF. I'd take both any day of the week though.

Except for in the Superbowl. I'll take Terry Bradshaw with JoeMontana a close second (Probably because I've been a Steelers fan all my life!)

Well not to knock your beloved Steelers, but to me Bradshaw was not in the same mold as Montana, Young, Marino, etc. He certainly had a strong arm, but he was not a thinking mans quarterback like the others. In a modern context, he would be regarded as a good quarterback with a great team around him.

I certainly agree that he had a great team aroung him. But, he did call his own plays. Who does that now? The game has changed alot since his glory days. IMHO, he may be one of the original thinking mans quarterback.

Of course, then I think a lot of the QB's called their own plays. What was Young until he joined the Niners? On a bad team in Tampa. Just goes to show it takes more than just a great QB.

I love the NFL!!

You bring up a very good point.

Today's quarterback's, with the exception of Manning have most of their plays called for them. Some don't even have the right to change the play because their ability to do so is not trusted by the coaching staff. Quite frankly I think many of today's quarterbacks would flop if they were required to call their own plays like the quarterbacks of yesterday. Some of the great quarterbacks from Bradshaw's era like Stabler, Griese, Staubach, etc. were so much more than just good athletes. They had a special feel for the game and could make game winning drives and plays based on their brains, not just their arms.
