what does the AC DELCO 20-45 mean - ZR-1 Net Registry Forums

Does anybody know what the 20-45 in the AC DELCO rear bearing hub assembly means? Its not a part number so?

Also need a part number for that plastic washer thingy and rear axle seal?

Answered on your PM! It is the ACD part # for the bearing/hub and an OE "genuine" package would display both. I sent you a link in the PM to justify that.

The axle seals would require the removal of the differential from the car and if you were going to that effort it might be time to do all three seals. Doing all three seals with an OE differential build would only require the seals and I'd do a new pinion nut. If it's an after-market build you need a new crush-collar also. Some say NOT - I think so! Maybe consider the bearings for the short axles also if you're doing the axle seals.

If you're thinking there's a seal at the hub there isn't, there's also NOT a plastic "thingy" but if you're referring the spindle washer the GM # is 14076924.

The teflon coated axle washers? They do recommend replacing those, but I never have. The source of noise on both of my C4's has been dry, rusty splines in the hub.

GM #14076924 I think.

When assembling the spindles and hub/bearing use this GM lubricant #12345879 - It's quite expensive so if you know a GM tech just stop by and say hello and grab a "finger swipe" of the stuff from the can. There's comparable drive-line assembly grease from Spicer but there's always this GM product in the shops.

Use it for assembling anything with a slip/splined fit, pinion flange, transmission slip-yoke and the hub/bearings I mentioned. GM uses it for intermediate steering shaft "clunk" - drive-line "clunk". If you do your own spindle bearings for mowing blades or have a propeller shaft drive of any type it's good stuff to have around.

Yep I meant the spindle washer and no the differental is not coming off the car.
