![]() ![]() Hello all, happy to be here with you all. I just purchased a 1991 ZR-1. White, with both tops, all original, and only 19,400 miles. Car is pretty flawless, with some very minor trim issues. The car arrived with its blue tint roof panel on, and only yesterday did I take the painted top out of the hatch. Around the interior of the painted top are four rubber peices. They were detached, and came in the rear storage bin. The two-sided sticky tape is still on the top, but obviously isn't sticky anymore. What are those pieces for? Seems it would just be black painted metals under the sticky tape? Don't know if I should remove old tape and reinstall, or leave them off after removing the old sticky tape. Appreciate any input. Thank you. John |

They're "head bumps". Don't think I ever bumped my head on them.
Welcome to the forum. -Steve |

Congrats and welcome. I would just get some new tape clean and replace or use contact cement. I believe you should have one on each side the other 2 go on the other top if they are not there.
Edit there are 4 two in back and 1 each side, just got mine out and looked, its been in the closet for the last 11 years...

Thanks for the prompt responses! Head bumps...darn lawyers!
I will attempt to "cleanly" remove the old tape, and see how it looks, if not I will re-attach. Thank you all again. John |

Welcome onto the boards there...
If the rubber isn't dried out, a THOROUGH wipedown with Trans-X will do it good. That stuff permeates the rubber, and softens and swells it. Closest thing to 'miracle-in-a-can' that I know of. SHould give a good seal after re-installation. And some snappics of the car are acceptable on the boards here!!! |

Wear a helmet and you will see why they are there.
