Re: Top Speed runs in your Z
201 on radar at 2002 Big Bend Open Road Race. Disqualified for too fast. Many times over 180. And I do not think I was scared or crazy. But the adrenaline was flowing. Going in a straight line at 200+ was a piece of cake. Going 160 around some of the corners was a lot more interesting.

Re: Top Speed runs in your Z
Not me. No videos of my runs. Also after reading my post I felt I ought to comment on the "not scared" comment I made. I have been scared, very scared. Anyone who was out in the jungles of South Vietnam knows what I am talking about. What I felt when driving my car was not anything like that. I was just having fun driving my Z. Even when I was going very fast.

Re: Top Speed runs in your Z
first day in the LSV, 155 with Larry Merow taking it for a "last test drive"
was coming up on a stop light when he slammed on the brakes. Larry wasn't afraid to "use the car" the front amolds went from shiney silver to black in a hurry. haven't been that fast since. plenty of times up around 140 though set cruise control at 130 in the old DRM on the BG parkway for 20 minutes. very smooth and nice road way back then. now in VA it's a bit too risky to let it hang out.

I still lurk. I see the central texas bunch occasionally. Missed Glenn not having the Texas BBQ this year.

Yah, Curtis what have you been up to. Haven't seen you since BG of 2004 (or maybe earlier) It was the year your car had a "little bit" of trouble.

How do you handle the cooling issues to go that fast?? My 91 ZR-1 overheats even on tracks like AMP and Road Atlanta (nowhere near those speeds) - I have to dial rpms back just to stay out for the session...(if this is too tech feel free to start new thread or whatever - but I'm desperate) Thanks!
