Re: Thanks for the inspiration.
I agree with the OP. SO nice to have such knowledgeable people to ask questions of - especially when you are a newbie and know little to nothing about Corvettes! (like myself)....

Re: Thanks for the inspiration.
If it were not for these forums and the great, friendly, knowledgeable people who frequent them, I wouldn't even be considering the ownership of an LT5 powered ZR-1.
There are lots and lots of tricks and tips for maintenance or modification of these cars that are shared, plus this group makes the wrangling of these NLA, used, and NOS parts a tad bit easier. Some have even gone so far as to reproduce some of these parts that are made of unobtainium in order to keep these great cars on the road. Thanks for being such a great group, and for being welcoming, even for the enthusiasts like me, who don't currently have the pleasure of throwing 7,000rpm powershifts behind an LT5 of my own------YET. Thank you, ALL! peace Hog |

Re: Thanks for the inspiration.
Hog,
If and when you buy one you will doubtless start grinning every time you run through the gears and see that the engine just keeps pulling and pulling and pulling. A week ago on a weekend 90 mile twisty road drive I got behind some poke doing 40 in the corners usually marked 45 max on a 55 mph two lane highway which I completely ignore and corner at the same 60-62 I do the rest so I flipped the valet switch on, put it in third at 60 which he finally did on the first straight and blew by him at 110 mph. Honest to goodness, when I glanced over it looked like he was standing still and, relatively, he was. that was just a hard riff in third and not even all the way mashed down...... It just makes you smile when you remember to breath. Lance

Re: Thanks for the inspiration.
Hog, you might want to watch the results of this weekend's Chicago 1/2 mile Sat and Sun drag races...several tuned ZR-1's of our vintages are entered and with the extra length our cars really start to shine. 3,4,5 are fantastic gears on these cars. I think it is called wannagofast.com and this is being held for 150 cars sat and then on sun with several runs for each on a rented long runway and timed at 1/2 mile. The company runs these a few times a year in various places. Some of our members are entered with their cars this weekend. Not sure any pure stock are but some fbi 500 hp and up cars sure are...tuned lt5's.
