"Love the (Ford)Beast"
No, this isn't about ZR-1's. But I just saw a documentary directed by Eric Bana, the Aussie actor, ("The Hulk", Spielberg's "Munich"), that you might be interested in.
It's called "Love the Beast" and it's about Bana's love for an Aussie Ford Falcon coupe from the seventies that he bought at the age of 15, and has kept and modified ever since. He may be a millionaire actor, but once he's done with filming on a Hollywood project he jets back to Melbourne to be with his family and his buddies from high school, together building the old coupe into a race car for the Tasmanian Rally. Now, this coupe isn't the Ford Falcon we're familiar with, but a 351 Cleveland powered 600hp. monster. More important than the car itself is what the film shows about the importance of the car hobby in peoples lives. Guys like Jeremy Clarkson, Jay Leno, even Dr. Phil, are interviewed about cars, and their place in our lives. Good film. Anybody that owns a ZR-1 will understand it, and probably dig it. Available on Netflix - "Love the Beast" 2009/ Eric Bana. |
