Default scanning question

I was wondering what you guys scan with and why? My aldl cable came with a copy of datamaster so that's what I'm going to start with. Should I stick with that or look for something else?

TIA,
Michael

I just got a Tech 1... not necessarily the best for datalogging, but can operate functions no other scan tool is able to.

I used an old laptop with a serial port and a home-made ALDL cable that I built.

I also use the Datamaster software, but so far, the free 20 recording runs they give you has been enough because I have never needed to do much more than a few runs to verify things were reading where they were supposed to.

Used this setup a couple times with the '93 M6 LT1 Corvette I used to have, and then a few times on my ZR-1 when I was trying to figure out a CEL issue I was having which ended being a bad O2 sensor on one side.

Datamaster is really good, I'm sure that would work fine. If you need to do more than 20 recording sessions though, you will have to fork over the $90 for the full version.

Ok thanks. I think I'll stick with datamaster. A tech one would certainly be nice it's just not in the budget at the moment.
