Doing some work on my LT5
Hi Guys,
Thought I would show a little of the work I have been doing recently. I got the Throttle body taken out to 63mm by Greg Van deventer and Corey Henderson did the injector housings and plenum. I thought I would go crazy and polish the outside and remove any unneccessary casting bumps etc. I couldn't help myself and had to spend a few hours on the insides as well. |

Re: Doing some work on my LT5
Jeff, mine had similar ones on there that bolted to the same place and looked really ordinary so I chopped them off and made some nice smooth ones and had them welded on.
It was only after I polished them, I looked at heaps of pics on the net and it doesn't look like any of them have them - I assumed everyone must just chop them off as they were pretty flimsy. I could chop them back off, but I'll see how they look when the engine is re-assembled. They do look like they serve a purpose but not essential? Mine don't have those other bosses back on the main rectangular bit that bolt to the inj housing either. Maybe because it was a late pre production prototype engine as best I can work out. |

PS: these are good candidates for engraving by CT Machining. PM me for info or ask someone to post a pic of their coolant pipes that I have engraved.......

Dave,it's not a ZR-1 He has put an LT5 in an old Holden car, pretty cool. Go to his web site. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/480776 What got me from his web site, was this. "The best part is the tail pipes saved me another 9kg and the increase in power is very noticeable. All the bends in the tailpipe and in particular the nasty 3" to 2.5" reducer must have been costing me significant horsepower. The driveability at very low speeds has also improved to my surprise as it was damn good to start with and now it is even better. Don't you love free upgrades :-)) " You read where he says "very noticeable" and "costing me significant horsepower" All i will say is if you can feel HP should be pretty much. Pete
