Default VHT Wrinkle Coating

Well, I was going to PC my intake but I had most of it done already in VHT so I am going to leave as is.....of course after alot of trial and error the key to a good VHT finish is preheating the parts and giving it low heat as it dries...

I had an issue with the plenum paint not wrinkling, my garage was 65-66 degrees, can says 60 is ok, so after some frustration....I heated up the intake with a hiar dyer, painted it, then brought it into the basement with temp set at 72, placed the hair dryer in the TB opening on low air and hot....stuff worked great.

PS: keep the hair dryer rear intake clear so it does not overheat....and stay close by I do not want anyone burning down their house.

Wow great idea. You amaze me with your innovations -- yer getting as good as the Greek on all things ZR-1 -- Kudos to you Lee.

This year I will try to visit you at your home shop on a nice weekend day to chat and BS.

PM me your cell # so I can put it into my cell memory that way when I am out on a romp with the ZE-1 I can call to see if you are available for a pop and stop visit. My cell is 815-790-4494

Lee,

I tried the VHT stuff last year when I did the cam covers. Didn't work well and so we went a different route. Used another wrinkle paint in black and then added whatever color I wanted on top of that.. Not sure yet how I will do the plenum and injector housings this year. Considering a silver with cam cover red for the inset.

Dom when you heat the stuff up, its great and consistent, you can see on my plenum where it wrinkled some before I used the heat method. When I do the next one, will heat the intake to 200 and then paint, then put the hair dryer in on it
