AC compressor diode?
I was flipping through the new catalog from Ecklers, and I noticed they sell a replacement pigtail for the AC compressor clutch. It shows a diode on one of the leads. I replaced this connector along with many others under the plenum, and I really don't remember it having the inline diode. Do ZR-1s have the diode in this location, or is it located somewhere else? Does anyone have a pic of the wiring leading to the AC compressor?
Thanks Andrew |

Re: AC compressor diode?
On my 94 it was taped in the harness about 4 inches back from the connector.

Re: AC compressor diode?
That diode absorbs the inductive kick from the compressor clutch when it disengages. I don't know the exact reason for the diode, but I'd darned sure want to know it's there.
(GM probably found the kick wiped out ECMs or BCMs during the dark of the moon on certain Tuesdays.)
