Great information John I added that information to post #11 above which has discussion/information summary. It appears if you have your own original key, you can for maybe a total under $30 buy a correct blank from MidAmerica and go to WalMart and get that blank key cut as a spare key.

You can measure the resistance of you own key

Take an ohm meter and measure across the little gold chip inside the black area in center of key.....measure from one side to the other
