With Lee's help, starting at 8:15 this morning, we rookies managed to have my LT5 pulled in under 7 hours - not bad for first timers, methinks. Nuttin' to it, really. Having new LT headers made is a breeze getting the exhaust off, and the rest went very well.
![]() ![]() ![]() As far as being able to detect anything with my #8, we couldn't see anything wrong. However, there was evidence of coolant seeping in at 3 cylinders; two adjacent to the water jacket hole at the IH/head junction. I understand Dom had some trouble with that as well. I was using Jerry's gaskets, but that alone does not seem to always be a given. I'm thinking some of that contact cement gasket adhesive around the water port might help. Suggestions? Note the coolant at the gasket (looking down the IH to the head). ![]() More pix later - more show and tell, but gotta run. |
