Default New Headers

With a lot of help from Jeff F, Nick S, Dave B and a little moral support from Rob M I installed a set lof SW headers, bullet cats and a Haibeck chip on my 92 last Novemeber. The fit was, generally, very good other than than I had the airtubes installed..tsk tsk..doing it all over I would NOT go that way. Having them in place makes installing the header bolts a real pain.

The only other concern was where the o2 sensor bungs were welded on the collector, there were big hunks of slag left inside that were removed by Rob and a die grinder. He has the touch, as some of you well know. Thanks Rob

The headers and cats really were a bolt up affair. They bolted right up to my existing B&B's

The weather here has been awful since then with only a couple dry enough days to drive. What I have observed on a couple driving occasions. A little louder and deeper on the outside, with more crackle in the sound, sounds much better in my opinion Inside it' a little louder also, but not unpleasent. As far as drone, the B&B's are awful anyway, and I haven't noticed a change either way.

I would use SW again with the only change being the airtubes, in Washington, not having the airpump installed wont negativley change an emmisions test. As I understand it the pump only runs the first 5 minutes anyway.
Jeff Flint was invaluable in the purchasing and installation, making sure, on the Saturday I had all the needed misc items, wire extensions, heat wrap for the wires, electrical plugs, gaskets and bolt etc. Without Jeff in the game, being a Z owner in the NW would be a real pain, thank you Jeff, very much for your help.

While under there I also installed new o2 sensors.

Nick's wonderful garage and lift made the install pleasurable also, you know how nice it is to actually walk under your car while doing this instead of rolling around on the concrete Thank you Nick. Nick's ZR-1 is for sale and having seen it a number of times and getting to drive it as well, I can say its a great car for the money. Only problem with it, is it's red. Just Kidding

I have no problem recommending the SW headers, I would though, encourage one to go through Jeff if possible as you get the product and the best service out there.

I had a great time doing this and can't thank Jeff and Rob enough for their help. They stayed all night at Nick's and WELL into the day Sunday before heading home to Portland. Note that Rob had to buy chains before he left as Portland was getting snow dumped on it and many roads were closing Sunday night. Thanks You guys, you are really what makes owning one of these cars so much fun!!

Rick
