Any one of the three is awesome. Here's some thoughts about 1) "uping" the hp of your car, 2) C5Z, and 3) C6Z. I've driven them all and here are my observations. 1) I've had the pleasure of driving a stock ZR-1 (which you've surpassed already). I've had Haibeck's top end package with 4.10s and it was awesome--it's now a 415 (more later). I have an SGC top end with stage I cams and 4.30s. Once you go into the engine of the LT5 the rewards are amazing. A ported top end (heads included) is awesome. 4.30 gears are too much for me. The ultimate is the 415. 555 rwhp is just about right. My only regret is that I wish I would have done it sooner. Every true ZR-1 lover should have a stroker. I would say the ZR-1's depreciation is the lowest of the three. 2) C5Z is a great car that can go fast cheap. Good for racing but a little stiff for some on the daily commute. It lacks the creature comforts, like our C4s, of navigation, bluetooth, etc but will outperform most anything on the road. The cars are very affordable and have steadied on depreciation. 3) C6Z is another ballgame all together. Stock dynos are around/higher than the top end LT5, has a waranty (maybe), has the creature comfort options, etc. Prices are coming down fast which is the definition of depreciation. So, going nowhere fast....the modifications on your ZR-1 will about equal the depreciation on the C6Z. If you choose #1, you can enjoy it and let #3 bottom in price. Unless you want a track car or are "attracted" to the C5Z, the C5Z will leave you wanting #1 or #3. Otherwise, go all the way and find a good-priced C6Z and never look back! I wouldn't trade my 415 for new C6Z, but I LOVE the LT5/ZR-1. Ted |
