On my motor, the aerator in the nozzle had deteriorated to the point where the injector was just flowing a stream of fuel into the cylinder. Without the proper atomization, the cylinder ran lean leading to detonation and ultimately a cracked compression ring in #7 cylinder.
I had the complete set flow tested and 4 injectors had a poor flow pattern aside from the injector with failed aerator.
