Batteries carry a significant deduction throughout the model years, for NCRS judging. I judge 68/69 for NCRS and it is always painful for the owners, even with reproduction batteries.
The good news is, an original battery can be refurbished. Here is a lousy pic of the one on my 1990 ZR1, dated 1990 March 1st...
