That said, there are 3+ people who are or have lived in the immediate area on the committee who have and are continuing to check out the best twisties and points of interest, which will be a topic of discussion and planning around the bar at the end of each day. One point of interest for sure is the Royal Gorge bridge photo op. In fact, Canon City will be the first over-night stop so that we can be at the bridge before it opens to the public at 10AM (we will need to be there around 8-9AM (ish) for photos, and then taking a scenic route to the base station hotel in Black Hawk for the remainder of the adventure! Specific locations and routes remain a 'work in progress', and with the guidance and recommendations of the locals on the committee, coupled with the abundance of things to see within a day's driving, I (being one who lived there for 3 years) can tell you there are PLENTY of treks that will keep your eyes wide open taking in the views as well as rubbing some of the tread off your tires, in the mean time! Suggested routs include the Rocky Mt Nat'l Park, Royal Gorge (mentioned), Breckenridge, South Park (yes, it is a REAL town!), and several passes and secluded towns dotting some of the prettiest mountain runs anywhere. (Makes me all "tiingly" just to think about it. Only about 6 weeks away!) As for hotel reservations, Ted is working out the final arrangements. I would expect to see an announcement in the next week or so with specifics. Stay tuned to this channel for more information!
