Good info from one that knows!

Going back to the temperature of the track, for a moment, both the day that Dom climbed atop the guard rail in his Z, and last Saturday as well, the track (A) was NOT sprayed prior to beginning, AND (B) the temps the night before went down into the upper 20s. However, I've seen videos of Pete running 129 mph @ Byron when temps were low enough to see water vapor from the tail pipes and the breath of the (starter) person was wearing a jacket (and gloves(?) maybe); no hint of slipping anywhere!

(Thinking out loud...) Bolstered by one of the track attendant's comments about the track being wet (as he was dry-mopping the starting line), my hypothesis is the pavement may well have been in a "sweat" (condensation) due to the sub-freezing cold soaking the night before? After the C7 came loose for a harrowing moment (following the C6 accident by about an hour earlier), the Crown Point Corvette Club President called the event.

However, (still thinking out loud) by then it was near 11 AM and the ambient temps were in the mid 40s, and the sun was shining through mostly clear skies. A variety of vehicles, (including Marc) were or had been within minutes making some runs w/o issues, even as the CPCC president was calling off our event. So... I dunno. Questions, questions, questions....
