Default Touching Story about WAZOO group

I think this is a story everyone should hear about.....what a great group of guys reaching out to a boy with Autism. As a parent of an Autistic child this touched my heart. Below is a quote from the boys mom....

If you have given up on the goodness of people, I am here to tell you there are beautiful souls in this world. They show when you least expect it, and when needed the most.
Most of you know my son Bret , who is now 22, LOVES cars. As a toddler he could name every car. I thought he was a genius! The next year he was diagnosed with autism. My heart sank.
Although a great passion, this has often gotten him into trouble. The 500 donation to the Corvette museum for the sink hole-although needed, was beyond Bret's budget, the special auto attire --adds up. The countless emails to SaabKyle04 and Buyavette can get tiresome. A few weeks ago, Bret bid on Ebay and won a corvette. It was a lovely ZR-1 car in impeccable condition. However, in addition to not having a license, he did not have 25k.
I began my usual apology letter to the seller of the car. I felt terrible. Instead of being angry with Bret, (and me!!) Dempsey Anderson said he would love to "make the young man's day" and invite him out. He said perhaps he can't buy one, but that didn't mean he can't enjoy one!
Dempsey invited his ZR-1 friends over for a corvette gathering. We surprised Bret with a visit. Bret was speechless (shocker). Bret got to "talk corvette", rode in each of Dempsey's 3 corvettes, participated in taking an engine out, and was welcomed into a beautiful group of people. They showed non-judgment, acceptance and kindness. I was beyond touched.
Having a child with autism is not easy, most people do not understand, or care. I have spent his life fighting or apologizing. When people show these acts of kindness, it makes me realize the goodness in mankind, and makes it all worthwhile.
Thank you Dempsey Anderson, Charlie, Richard Muhr, Jun for your kind spirit and for "making a young man's day", mine, Peter's, and everyone I tell the story to.smile emoticon
