oil level sensor

Have to replace oil pan gasket. How do you remove that hateful connector? Seems like locking tab is inside sensor and can't get to it? Rotating entire sensor for removal will twist wiring in half. Doesn't seem like it just pulls out or am I not pulling hard enough?
