’89 build
I just wanted to share where my build is at. The drive train has been removed from the donor body and the engine bay cleaned up. The motor ’89-10 has had a first round of cleaning after having pulled first the plenum and the accessories. Clutch looks good so it is staying. Coolant came out as if it were just put in. Picking and choosing what to replace since it is apart and what to leave as is. Originally my thoughts were to have the top powered coated, but the bills are adding up and after having seen We Gone’s work I have decided to paint the top end. A second reconsideration was that rear end to use. Car -10 had a factory Dana 60. But again for the sake of keeping the budget and challenges under control, I have decided to stay with a Dana 44 rebuilding it to match the gear ratio of the 60. To put it all back together, the plan is to assemble the drive train and then lift the body over and down. I still need or simply may want a few parts so if anyone has the following: Fuel lines Water pump maybe. And an ’86-’89 dash panel. The big one door to door. '89 Bose wiring harnesses. The plan, after the car is done, is to get it to Chicago, then drive route 66 back to Santa Monica. Let’s see how it goes. George |
