My climate control buttons had serious issues. They only worked about 1 in 20 times, and sometimes not at all. That's a big problem in the summer in the south! I used this thread from corvetteforum as a reference and this really was an easy fix that took me about 1.5 hours being very careful. Definitely a 1-beer job.
Climate Control Button Repair I figured I would post this as a reference and add a few pictures of the process. Anyone else get rich doing this job? I found $2.26! This was under the shift console, evidently someone lost a bunch of change putting it in the cup holders. Funny thing is, this solved a shifter rattle I was worried about. LOL ![]() When you remove the console lid, pull the shift console back and remove the trim panel, this is what you see. The screw on the right is hidden by the dash pad, but you can push it to the side enough to get that screw out. ![]() Pull the CC unit out and remove the screws holding it together. The only part that caused me a problem was one of the side brackets interfered with getting a screw out. A little dremel work and that wasn't a problem any more, and the unit is open. ![]() This is what you're cleaning. The little round Klingon symbols...targets, whatever. I used a pencil eraser and they cleaned up a lot. Then a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol to finish it off. I also cleaned the contact pins inside the rubber liner. ![]() ![]() Reassembly and everything worked perfectly. All the buttons work like they are new again, fixed a HUGE source of frustration for me. Love it. It's the little things that make me happy. Last edited by 8cam; 07-09-2014 at 07:16 PM. |
