Can't ask for much better in the winter. Rebuilding the alternator is fraught with pitfalls but there are a series of measurements that can be made as you assemble to assure no internal shorts exist. One mod I did to mine was to put a set screw onto the rear bearing to keep it from spinning at high rpm.
