October 5th and 6th will be your opportunity to take advantage of the old Firebird Raceway one final time. Flag drop starts and no no timing or scoring. Bring your camera and bring your friends. You may need them on both ends of the track if you plan on racing a heads up grudge match. The following weekend The Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving will be using the the dragstrip as a the straightaway for the Main Track configuration during Bob Bondurant’s 80th birthday celebration. The birthday celebration will include, among other things, a nostalgic road race and car show. Bondurant’s birthday celebration will be held October 11 – 13, 2013. We spoke to Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park President Dick Hahne. Hahne tells us that phase two of the renovations to the grounds is scheduled to begin October 15th when the demolition of the dragstrip is scheduled to begin. In the mean time, progress on the property has been moving forward. The property is looking good. It has been re-branded with the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park logo. The grounds are clean and looking sharp. Both spectators and participants at this past weekend’s Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series’ Fall Classic Complimented the property.
