Need some glass date codes!
It seems that something around '93 or '94 LOF/Pilkington maybe changed their "date coding method". I've a format that I've used since the late 50's and it's been consistent through for sure '93. It's for sure not consistent with '95 & '96 C4 builds.
The date code will be two letters on the windshield 2nd row from bottom separated generally by 3/4". On the door glass they're side by side. I'd like to change the format I use to be correct. It would be good if I had just the car#, production date from drivers door and the codes from the glass. It would be good to have maybe 5 or 6 each '93, '94 and '95 builds. I'll post the corrected "format" when done. I can assure you the Internet sources out there aren't correct for anything it seems newer than '92. Pilkington dealers don't know. ***It would NOT be unusual for a '93 build to have a '91 date coded glass it seems. A few years ago Ryan mentioned I believe his '93 #248 had a GJ windshield. It was never mentioned that it had been replaced. Last edited by WVZR-1; 02-27-2013 at 06:56 PM. |
