Trim Height Adjustment?
I thought I had a pretty good handle on the suspension of these cars. Evidently someone has taken a hack saw and cut off about 3/4 of my handle!!! I just completed a full Half Shaft U-Joint replacement. As I was putting it back together, I see in the '92 FSM "Hold suspension at proper trim height using jack stands. (this is before tightening the outer Spindle Rod bolt, also known as the rear camber rod) to "Trim Height" see chart in SECTION 3.
As I look at this section it shows a measurement of 6.4mm from center of inner rod mounting bolt, to the center of the outer rod mounting bolt measured vertically. I have placed a jack on the bottom of the knuckle, and tried to raise it to meet these numbers. Even with the Spring Removed from the system, it will raise the car off of the Jacks before this distance is achieved. Am I over thinking this, or am I in error with my thinking? What do I need to do to put it back together, so I can take it 5 miles to an alignment shop to have it aligned. When I take it there do they set the trim height, before alignment of just take it as it is? I can supply FSM manual pages if you need them. Rich
