New Here and with problems of course!
I just bought a used 92 z with pretty high miles that had been in storage for several years. I've been fumbling around for a few weeks in order to get it running and it is running.
Firstly the car was dying after about 5 mins of running or when it hit temp. I changed the fuel pumps and it didnt help. It was actuall a ground coming off the the fuel pump harness that was loose. I changed all the fluids in the car, put a new battery, new plugs, air filter, fuel pumps, fuel filter, pcv valves, new tires on it. I have a few concerns right now and wanted your guys feedback. The tranny appears to be running REALLY hot. I can go for a 45 minute cruise and cannot touch the ash tray area around the shifter without it almost burning my skin. Secondly I took it for a hour drive on the freeway last weekend and was cruising around 65mph. I wanted to "get the carbon out" and I dropped it into 3rd and let it have it. I almost broke my neck, but when I hit about 105 the whole shifter area in the car started vibrating out of control. I've put 300 miles on the car now and this only has happened when I got up to speed. Is there a bearing or bushing or something in the drivetrain that could be responsible or ?? I was also wondering if there is a breakdown of speeds by gears. It feels like my rear end has been changed out or is geared down for quick acceleration. Sorry for the rambling first post, trying to figure out this car but it sure is going to be a fun project now that I've finally converted over from the old saleen mustang family. |
