Re: DS Cam Cover removal time cutting step
Thank you thank you .....limey
I removed both cam covers from my 1991 ZR1 today in about 30 minutes I placed one jack under cross member just in front of oil pan with 12 inch long 2x6 as cushion. I placed second jack under forward corner drivers side of oil pan with shorter 2x6 as cushion. I removed drivers side engine mounting nut and jacked drivers side of engine up maybe 2 to 3 inches more or less. At that point I could get my 3/8 drive extension with 40 torx over the top of the brake booster and removed the two lower torx cam cover bolts to the rear of the cam cover Keep as much pressure (pushing into the bolt) on the torx as you can while breaking the torx bolt loose. I removed the power steering pump and reservoir (three bolts accessed through the power steering pump pulley) at the front of the drivers side cam cover so I could get at the 3 smaller torx bolts on that end. I removed the AC/heater box cover (5 screws) at the rear of the passenger side cam cover so I could get at the lower torx bolts on that end. Last edited by Dynomite; 09-11-2009 at 11:41 AM. |
