Clutch Replacement
Last week we replaced the clutch in Darrin's 1990 ZR-1 (ZR-1nce removed). The problem that required replacement was a noise from the clutch bearing.
Darrin got a new OEM style 1990-1993 clutch made by Valeo from AutoParts Warehouse: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/details/QQChevroletQQCorvetteQQValeoQQClutch_KitQQ19901993 QQW0133-1598597.html The job was straight forward and the tip and helps and go-bys here on the NetRegistry were very useful. I took some pictures of a few steps for illustration. Here is Darrin removing the DS cat: Here is a neat picture looking down the business end of a header. You can see the O2 sensor: Here's David installing the bell housing: Reinstalling the clutch slave cylinder. You can see the guide bolts that will be used to align the transmission to the clutch. Engine is supported by one jack and the transmission is supported by another. The transmission would not slide into place, so we added the clutch fluid and pumped the clutch a few times and then the transmission slid into place easily: Me after I got an oil shower. Note to self: When you are on the output shaft end of the transmission you wear the oil. Jim
