Re: Cooling Port for 1990 Lt5
Corvette95, thank you for this suggestion. Of the 3 part numbers listed, it would have to be #782252 as that is the one with the 1/8 NPT threaded connection; the others would be too big.
I was going to start another thread but I may as well add on to this one as I am not really thread-jacking, just resurrecting an old one. At some point in the past, my driver side plenum coolant air bleed L fitting was replaced with a T with one side capped off, see first pic. I've noticed a slow accumulation of coolant in the valley below that I had attributed to a leaky plenum gasket, but yesterday I noticed that the leak is probably from around the fitting, see second pic. It's possible that there might have been an issue like this in the past, which is why they might have messed with the fitting to start with. I can either (a) ignore it - which would be fine as long as I am comfortable that it won't blow off while driving and catastrophically dump coolant. The leak/weep is so small that I don't think that this is imminent. (b) fix the fitting as per suggestion above to replace with drilled and tapped NPT fitting, (c) block throttle body coolant flow and avoid the issue altogether. Any opinions from the experts? |
