Huge Thank You to all of our Corvettes at Carlisle Sponsors and Organizers!
This year's Corvettes at Carlisle was a fantastic time. The weather was perfect and the company - priceless! It was great to see everyone, even if they were only passing through for a day. My biggest regret was not being able to catch up with everyone - there just wasn't enough time!
We were back on top this year as the #1 Corvette Club at the event, besting the local Corvette club as well as the National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS). That's quite a feat and testament to what a great community we have - that we continue to have these numbers in our 11th year. Each year is like a family reunion - it is such a great time to see everyone and catch up on events. I have to give a big shout out to a few people who made all of this happen: Ted Feder - our Events Chairman, who orchestrated everything from clear across the country, in between surgeries! Yes, Ted is an oral maxillofacial surgeon who I'm so thankful does all of this for us! Charlie Sinunu - our WAZOO BBQ master! Charlie takes some time away from work to begin creating our BBQ days prior to the event - and is it ever fantastic! Charlie's BBQ is in itself reason enough to come to Carlisle! In addition, Charlie's boasting of the ZR-1 Net Registry family resulted in a few more sponsorships for the event than we expected! Darren Catts - Another WAZOO guy who handles all of the logistics of the event along with Jim Voter. Darren and Jim had plenty of food and drinks for everyone throughout the event. They put in a lot of behind-the-scenes work into making sure everything is there and the area setup. Jim Voter - Jim is our resident fix-it guy in addition to getting us setup. Each year, Jim makes sure that no ZR-1er gets stranded at either of our events. His ZR-1 is efficiently organized with parts and tools to address most any issue! This year was no exception. Robert DeMarco - Robert supplied us with ample ZR-1 Net Registry merchandise and solicited sponsors for the event. We had over 20 really exciting items for our silent auction that Robert made possible. In addition, Robert brought his 'collection' of buffers and variety of polishes and conducted a 'Waxer 101' session for all of us. I think everyone learned quite a bit from Robert, and learned how to use the right polisher/polish for the right job. Kevin Kurtz, Paul Workman, Dennis Fierstein - These guys were the heart of the ZR-1 Net Registry area throughout the weekend, manning our membership / merchandise / silent auction / lost & found / general ZR-1 Net Registry question station! They spent their weekend making sure we all had a great one! Likewise, those responsible for defraying our expenses for the event with their generous donations were: Haibeck Automotive Technology - Custom programmed chips, which every ZR-1 can benefit from! http://zr1specialist.com/ Jerry's Gaskets - Engine Top End Refresh Kit. This kit had everything needed to freshen up your LT5; various PCV and vacuum hoses, to check valves, IAC motor as well as a full complement of gaskets and seals. Jerry's 18-piece package was impressive. http://www.jerrysgaskets.com/ Vette-2-Vette - C4 No Flex frame stiffener bar system. This system reduces body twist and roll when driving by making the frame more solid so the front end will not flex when driving on curves; it makes the body just as solid with the top on or off. https://www.vette2vette.com/?q=produ...r-bar-system-5 CT Machining - Carter's signature throttle body plates and machined hood prop keys. No LT5 should be without these! Email Carter CTMachining@gmail.comfor more information or wait for the upcoming HotB to view his ad. Doug Rippie Motorsports - $250 Gift Certificate. As you may know, DRM is the source for ZR-1 racing parts. If you want to trick out your suspension or modify your stock brakes to handle more heat, DRM is your one-stop shop. http://dougrippie.com/category/produ...tte-1984-1996/ Adam's Polishes - $150 Gift Certificate. Adam's Premium Car Care signature product line includes car wax, sealants, dressings, cleaners, and polishes – all guaranteed to outshine and outlast any product you've used on your vehicle. http://adamspolishes.com/# Automotive, Inc. - A/C Compressor Rebuild Certificate. Automotive, Inc. is in the business of rebuilding compressors of all sizes. Charlie Sinunu is one happy customer, and gives Automotive, Inc. his thumbs-up for your A/C compressor needs! http://www.compressorsoftheworld.com/contact.php The Shine Shop - Quartz Ceramic Coating Application. Again, Charlie Sinunu, who we know to have such an incredible red 1992 ZR-1 that it would appear that the paint is about to run off the body, recommends this shop as the best in the Baltimore, Maryland area. http://www.theshineshopautodetailing.com/ In addition to the above items, we had banners, headliners, custom floor mats and other items available. Many of us left with an incredible memento of the 2016 event. I'd also like to recognize 4 of our ZR-1 Net Registry Members whose ZR-1s were recognized for standing above and beyond in the eye of celebrity and NCRS judges: Mark Brown (NCRS), Joe Cagianut (Bob Tomzack), Scott Griggs (ZR-1 Net Registry) and Rich Muhr (Jerry Palmer) were all highlighted during the weekend as exceptional given the over 6,000 Corvettes that attended the event. Congratulations to everyone! Lastly, thank you to everyone who came out and attended the event. It was a great time just catching up with everyone and just as fun to meet all the new ZR-1ers. I'd like to highlight Urs who came over from Switzerland, Mike and Dez who drove their new Z from Canada.... I know I'm missing someone else, who I'll remember shortly! A big 'Thank You' to everyone who made this possible, and request the ZR-1 community support those who support us! Regards, Mark
