Dom, don't you have a heated garage yet? I blew some insulation in the ceiling and sides of mine and installed an electric heater hanging from the ceiling. The heater and 220 line cost about $600. I keep it at about 50 degrees most of the winter but if I want to work I can run it up to 60 or more temporarily. Here is a picture-- you can see it in the back corner. Very happy with the results.
